Jeffrey B Goldberg
Dean, College of Engineering
Jeffrey Goldberg is Dean of College of Engineering and a Professor of Systems and Industrial Engineering at the University of Arizona. Research and teaching interests of Dr. Goldberg include 1) models for approximating performance of spatial queueing systems, such as those in automated factories and emergency service systems, 2) design of educational systems that are effective for students, instructors, and society, and 3) mathematical programming models of products and processes to improve production systems design and operation.
Dr. Goldberg received his BS and MS degrees in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research at Cornell University in 1979 and 1980, respectively. He received his PhD in Industrial and Operations Engineering at University of Michigan in 1984. Dr. Goldberg’s research work has primarily been applied to the logistics management of emergency services. His research has resulted in several scholarly publications and strong relationships with the Department of Emergency Medicine in the University of Arizona College of Medicine and with industry partners, including Rural Metro. Dr. Goldberg is a co-author of a textbook, entitled “The Design and Analysis of Lean Production Systems”, which was published by John Wiley and Sons Inc. in 2002.
